Create - Hanga was the theme of the day. So looked at how creating is an important part of how a student learns. Making, doing and presenting what they have learned motivates the student.
Create is a process of forming original ideas through exploration and discovery -Kohl 2008. Tasks that are created need to hook in the students. Creative skills help students become better problem solvers, communicators, and collaborators.
Kent Somerville did a hangout with us about live streaming and how it involves the whanau if they are unable to attend the event that a student is in. It gives them the opportunity to share in the student's success as well.
A few things I enjoyed and found valuable were to Create a Playlist. I put some youtube clips for Mandarin into the playlist. We also did a google slide, and how to put in an image by just dragging it onto the slide.

ReplyDeleteHaving your own youtube playlists can be such a timesaver if you have mulitple videos you are wanting to use with your learners. And being able to embed these into your class site makes it even better! Remember when you are resizing an image in slides or drawings, use the corners to keep the image in proportion.
